These groups help with important projects including fence repair and painting, organizing storage areas, grounds and landscaping work, computer work, and other facility beautification jobs around the farm. Doing this work with like-minded people, all while giving time and energy to a great cause, makes this great fun for the entire team! NVTRP receives invaluable help and volunteers gain a sense of accomplishment and joy from helping others in their community.

Kristen graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Marketing and began her career at in the Office of Administration for the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of the American Indian. She met her husband, Steve, while at VT and they live in the City of Fairfax where they are raising their three children, Katie, Ellie, and Jimmy and their yellow lab, Murphy.

Kristen became a volunteer at NVTRP in the Fall of 2013 helping with horse care and lessons. Quickly Kristen became ingrained in the amazing community of NVTRP staff, volunteers, clients, and horses. She began to expand her volunteering into the office, supporting the NVTRP team and has recently joined the staff as a part-time Program Assistant.

Kristen’s involvement in NVTRP has become a family affair - her husband Steve serves up drinks as the bartender at the annual Polo Classic, and both of her daughters, Katie and Ellie are regular volunteers. Once Jimmy turns 14, he’ll be expected to join the incredible group of people that make NVTRP so special.
